Theatre Letters to Lindy

Filled with humour and heartbreak, Letters to Lindy explores the public’s relationship with one of 20th Century Australia’s most iconic figures and undoubtedly Australia’s most publicised murder trial. Created by award-winning playwright, Alana Valentine, Letters to Lindy – performed by Jeanette Cronin as Lindy Chamberlain – tells a story that captivated the nation in the early 1980s; a mother accused of murdering her child, her claims the baby was taken by a dingo denied and discredited by police, and a flawed legal system. Lysa and the Freeborn Dames A bold and powerful response to Aristophanes’ Greek comedy Lysistrata, this fury-fuelled dramedy explores female politics from the perspective of a passionate young woman on the cusp of self-discovery and self-empowerment in a tiny Australian town. The world premiere production sees award-winning Queensland writer Claire Christian make her mainstage debut as playwright, with Sanja Simić as director.

Classical music Karakorum: A Medieval Musical Journey Australian film legend David Wenham (Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, 300 and Lion to name a few) will narrate Australian Brandenburg Orchestra's upcoming production of Karakorum: A Medieval Musical Journey. This musical silk road journey from Constantinople to Karakorum features French ‘medieval world folk’ ensemble La Camera delle Lacrime. Soloists and Spontaneity Conductor Alondra de la Parra will lead the Queensland Symphony Orchestra with artist-in-residence Sergio Tiempo on piano. Hear them bring the house down with Rachmaninov's mighty third Piano Concerto, plus Bartók's spectacular Concerto for Orchestra.
